A Truly Unique Set of Bespoke Wedding Rings Inspired by Nature
Becoming a part of your unique love story is a massive privilege for us. We have been so lucky to be involved in some truly unusual bespoke projects over the years but one that stands out were wedding rings we created based on a woven grass ring created for Aaron and Ciara.
Aaron made a plaited grass ring to use to propose to Ciara with on holidays in picturesque New Zealand. Once they began thinking about their wedding rings they knew they wanted to incorporate this natural design into their one-of-a-kind wedding bands. It is the perfect design for nature lovers.
Unlike traditional rings made with metal, grass is not exactly the most robust material for everyday wear. So we embarked on a journey to recreate this sentimental and meaningful ring in metal.

At McCaul Goldsmiths we regularly combine traditional goldsmithing techniques with new technologies. Using the modern technology of 3D scanning, we scanned the grass ring to created a 3D model of the original. We removed the twine knot from the digital design and created two matching rings based on the scanned profile.

We printed the 3D designs in purple resin to ensure the they retained the details of the original. We then created silver models to ensure the project was feasible and would translate well into metal.

Once we were happy with the results we went ahead with casting the final rings. Aaron chose to go for 18ct white gold and Ciara chose 18ct rose gold. We couldn't be happier with the results.
